Mr. Fix-It's problem solving for DCC not working in Khaled Mardam-Bey's mIRC... Please log this session, or save the buffer afterwards DCC is short for Direct Computer Connection (Once you are in DCC you bypass the internet servers) There are two ways in which to establish a DCC connection. The regular way is to type /chat nick You should then open a window which will advise you that a chat is being attempted and the other party's reply is being waited. The alternative is to type /msg nick chat Here you wait for the other party to contact you Some bots do not respond to the /msg nick chat request... you use the alternative command /ctcp nick chat logos3 and logos9 both use /msg nick chat duck's bots use /ctcp nick chat Let us check your computer's DCC settings in your mIRC program... go to "Options" - options is 2nd button from left Scroll down to DCC, Check what it says for "On Send Request" and "On Chat Request" Preferred settings are... "On Chat Request--Show Chat dialog" and "On Send Request--Show Get dialog" Scroll that window up to the top and look at local info - 3rd from top - check what is "lookup method" ? Choices are normal or server - should be set to "normal" could you check again in options - Local Info please... "on connect always get Local Host" Now quit irc. You have to shut mIRC down, and restart it, and come back in again for the settings changes you have made to take effect. If it still doesn't work, there is a problem inside your mIRC. ver 1.0 26th March 2001 ©chatministries.org - may be reproduced at no charge
