CHANNEL PURPOSE

This is an expanded short version of part of the Channel Mission Statement. It comprises a previously available post from the logos3 bot (before it unfortunately died), with added comments at the end. It is now available from the isaiah40 bot on posting !FAQ Purpose

It is our mission to guide, instruct, inform, and encourage others to seek and follow the truth which leads to eternal life; that is, that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and that no one comes to the Father but by Him (John 14:6)

It is also our commitment to help those who know Christ, grow in their knowledge and understanding of His truth, to better equip them to serve God (Ephesians 4:12). We stand encouraged in heart and united in love (Colossians 2:2) for the purpose of spreading the Gospel to all corners of the world (Matthew 28:19)

This particular policy is regarded by us as being most important in relation to conversations of those who are not Christians, which while being well-meaning in intention, may easily upset the faith of what the Bible calls "Baby Christians"

As the purpose of the channel is as much to share our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as it is to have decent clean enjoyable fellowship, any conversation which could damage the faith of others in channel is regarded as unsuitable conduct.

The point has been expressed to us that someone's faith which can so easily be damaged can hardly be truly called faith.

Well, put simply, faith is something that either grows or dies, and in its early stages it can be damaged or even destroyed by negativity before it ever properly takes root.
